Questionário - Cilon Rosa - elaborado por Andréia

Hi everyonE!!

Hi, I'm Lívia and I'm in the 8th semester. I study English since I was 10 years old, but I never took classes in private schools. So, my first semester of training was very nice, I observed classes at Vicente Farencena school in a 9th year. The class is not so agitated, but they (students) tend to not like the language very much, because they aren't very curious or interested in learning it. Few students do that (ask teacher how is the meaning of somethings, or other related issues). But sometimes, when a subject brought by the teacher become interesting, they tend to be so involved. Not every class is the same. Sometimes I help the teacher correcting the exercises and walking along the room, desk by desk, giving information. It has been an amazing experience, because I think it's so important to have this overview about how is teaching in a public school, and to what extent our methodologies and theories are applyed that, or not.
Hello everybody!

I'm Andréia, I'm supposed to be in the 8th semester and I've been studying English for 16 years, starting when I was 5 yrs old. Since then, English, and languages in general, has been one of my passions.
Since I've started observing classes I have gone through 3 different schools. First, I observed some classes at E.M. Vicente Farencena, Camobi, in a 5th grade and it was a really nice experience.
In last semester I observed two 1st year groups of nocturne High School at Coronel Pilar, a totally different context.
There were only 4 students in one of the groups I observed and they were not always the same ones. However the teacher was very happy to teach them and they (not all) were really interested in learning English. Since the beginning I helped her to monitor the students when they were doing exercises and also helped them to solve doubts.
Then, in this semester I changed school, again, and I'm observing classes in a 2nd year group at Cilon Rosa, also nocturne. The first thing I notice when I first entered the school is that it really seemed like a school context, different from Coronel Pilar (in the context I'd observed). I've just observed two classes but I'm really happy with the school and the teacher, she is very nice and has already asked me to help her in classes and if I may be avaiable to substitute her when she has to miss some classes.
That is it for now! =D
Thank you all...

Andréia

Hello
I'm Maíra and I'm in the 6th semester. My "estágio I" was not what I was expecting because the class I observed in Edson Figueiredo school was so agitated and noisy that it was impossible for the teacher to develop a lesson. I don't know if it was because of the age group (around 12,13 years-old) or if it was because of the teacher that couldn't have a class control to try to minimize the noise. The thing is that I had a bad experience with 6th grade class but now I'm observing a 5th grade class and I hope that things get better otherwise I'll have to reconsider my choice of being a teacher.
That's all folks
Kisses

Hello! My name is Daiane, and I am in th 6th semester.

I am doing my "estágio" at Coronel Pillar, with a 6th grade group.
It is being nice. since the begging I am no just observing the classes, but also helping the teacher. The teacher always ask for suggestions and opinions about the classes and activities, so sometimes I bring some activities to do with the students, and she already gave me the opportunity to do some activties with the students.
I am always walking around the class, helping the students who need.
Of course sometimes I feel nervous and insecure, becuase it is a big group (around 30) and they talk a lot, but it is nice.
it is a great experience!

Hi!
I'm Nathalia, I'm in the 6th semester, I LOVE English and I have been studying it for almost 10 years!
Now, I'll tell you a little bit about my experience at Coronel Pilar last semester.
I started observing classes in a 5th-grade group but I was reminded by the teacher from the very beginning that I shouldn't be just a 'visitor' in her classes. I was supposed to participate and every time I had an interesting activity to help in class I could bring and show her and maybe we could use it. After some weeks (one or two I think!) I showed her an activity about colors that Daiane and I had prepared once and she really liked it. For my surprise, she asked ME to do the whole activity with them. It was very nice, of course I was nervous, but it was my first experience with a big group. And after this time, every time I took some activity to show her I would do it with the students by myself.
I have been satisfied with my work but I'm sure there's still A LOT to learn. Even though students are very cooperative in most of the activities, it's difficult to keep them quiet or even to have some respect from them since I am young and almost their size!!
Well, I think that's it!
If you have any comments or suggestions, you are welcome!
Nathalia
